Gina Smith, PhD

Based in San Francisco, Gina Smith is an award-winning journalist and the New York Times bestselling author of The Genomic Age (Amacom, 2005) and Apple founder Steve Wozniak’s biography, iWoz: How I Invented the Personal Computer and Had Fun Doing It (WW Norton, 2006/2014).

She was the first on-air correspondent devoted exclusively to tech at ABC News and is the former editor-in-chief of BYTE.com. Gina’s a startup fanatic and served on the founding teams of Wired, CNET, the Electronic Entertainment Expo. She was founding CEO of NIC, a dot com internet applicance play owned by Oracle chairman Larry Ellison. In 2001, Upside Magazine named Gina to its list of the 100 Most Powerful People in Technology.
